TREATMENT OF ALLERGY
Allergy is a common problem and in our clinic, about 25% of patients come with one or the other type of allergy. Anything under the sun, including the sun, can cause allergy.
Allergy to hair dye and allergy to soaps and detergents [Alkali Dermatitis] are rather common. URTICARIA, a form of allergy in which itchy swellings develop on the skin and ATOPIC DERMATITIS, an allergic illness with familial occurrence are also common.
These conditions are usually treated with antihistamines and steroids; the types and doses of which in each case is best decided by a dermatologist. So, people should consult a qualified dermatologist for the treatment of these conditions.
TREATMENT OF FUNGAL INFECTIONS
Fungal infections have become a serious public health problem during the past few years. Many medicines that were previously used for these infections are no longer effective. Indiscriminate use of steroid containing preparations have to lead to this sorry situation.
Creams like Fourderm, Quadriderm, Candiderma, Candid B, Zole F, Keto B, Sebifin plus, etc contain steroids and cannot be used to treat Fungal Infections. Steroids, neither alone nor in combination with antifungals or other medicines have a role in the treatment of Fungal Infections. These medicines give just temporary relief of symptoms but never cure the disease. These medicines just alleviate the itch but never eliminate the fungus. Once these medicines are stopped, the Fungal Infection with all its symptoms will come BACK with VENGENCE.
If you have an itchy lesion, consult a Dermatologist. Nobody else can diagnose and treat an itch as well as a Dermatologist. Yes, that is why he is called the itch specialist.
